Overview of Alien: Blackout

A relatively recent version of this project appeared on Android. It has been actively teased. One got the impression that it was something really large-scale. But then it turned out to be a small mobile game. This really pissed off everyone who likes Alien. So why did they react like that?

It’s a horror game in a mobile version. Under certain conditions, it can really evoke fear and even horror. The action takes place on a large station in space. Only four members of the crew manage to survive here. The main character’s name is Amanda Rpili. The crew does everything to survive. Alien knows how to scare everyone. Ripley is hiding in a vent. She uses a tablet with provided access to cameras and doors. It is from there that she makes various recommendations to the survivors. She also observes the movement of the monster.

How to play Alien: Blackout

You don’t have to go anywhere. There is no need to hide. You just have to keep checking the surveillance cameras. You just have to turn off the devices to scan the area, close and open the doors, and plot the best route. Don’t forget that Amanda herself may well be killed. This will happen if the xenomorph stops running around the station. He’ll be in the air vent in no time. Stay alert.

These moments will be accompanied by special noises. In this case, do not hesitate. You must open the hatch quickly. It leads to the very spot where the heroine is hiding. The problem is that if the hatch is closed, the tablet’s signal is blocked. In this case it is not possible to continue to monitor and assist those who have managed to survive.

Game mechanics

There are a lot of similar restrictions in this project. An example is calculating energy in units. It is worth imagining that the heroine only has access to some cells of the station. One unit will be spent blocking a door or activating a scanner. The latter is needed to shoot in areas where there are no cameras. If three doors have been closed and a couple of scanners activated, five units of available energy will be spent. But then you have to open the door and disable the scanner. After that, the energy will be restored.

There’s a build-up of the situation going on. You have to switch constantly from one camera to another. Energy has to be reallocated. You need to put the tablet away for a while and listen. There’s a good chance the dangerous creature has already climbed into the vent. That idea works. You can’t always keep track of everything. At some point, it’s going to happen that you don’t close the vent. It’s quite possible that you won’t look into any of the cameras that are far enough away.

Conclusion

So why is this game mobile? While running the project, headphones are recommended for maximum immersion. But where’s the fascination with horror in its mobile version? Playing it on phones is difficult enough. The thing is, this project is simply not suitable for smartphones. All the buttons and icons are small. To click on them is difficult even on a phone with a big screen. But this project is still not adapted for phone control. This is a significant disadvantage.
